Bill Weiss. Weiss Auctions is one of the world’s largest public auction firms completely operated by only two people; Bill and Addie Weiss. Beginning in the stamp business in 1972 and selling as “William R. Weiss, Jr.”, our early years were primarily as bourse dealers who attended major shows on the east coast of the United States. This business eventually developed into specializing in only United States Postal History covers, and that business inventory was sold in 1980. Beginning in 1975 Bill Weiss began conducting “Net Price Sales” wherein material was offered at set prices to the first person who placed an order. This business continued until 1985. In 1983 we conducted our first public auction, and by 2006, between Net Sales and Public Auctions, we will conduct our 156th sale. Bill Weiss is a well known author of various books, notably “The Catalog of Union Civil War Patriotic Covers”, “The Foreign Mail Cancellations of New York City, 1870-1878″, “Confederate Adversity Covers”, “The United States 15c Stamp of 1870-1890″ and “Collecting United States Covers and Postal History”. Bill is also a noted successful exhibitor having won numerous awards. He is also a certified expert and currently serves both the American Philatelic Society (APEX) and the Professional Stamp Experts (PSE) committees. Bill and Addie are both members of APS and Bill is #48798 (40 years).
